Snowy Weather

It's been quite the weather week this week. On Monday it was 55 degrees, but so ridiculously windy and rainy and floody that our power was out for 10 long hours. Then it turned back cold again.

Yesterday morning was about 35 degrees and snowing pretty steadily.

In the afternoon it turned windy again, plus snow squally, so much so that when I looked out my window at work I couldn't see anything past the parking lot. Scary! I had Joe pick me up early from work because the roads were bad and I didn't want to wait for it to get dark before we hit the road.

So I guess Winter is really here. Today it's about 10 degrees, but with the wind chill it feels like 20 below. I wish Winter could just stay about 35 degrees all the way through, that would be fine with me!

Another Washout - in more ways than one!

So Friday night we drove to Binghamton...in the rain. And Saturday morning we woke up...to the rain. It rained most of the day on Saturday, and it was the downpour kind, not the misty kind. Needless to say, we never made it to the pumpkin farm. Second year in a row! :(

To compound this, Xander was sick all weekend, starting Friday night. Lots of moaning and crying in bed that night, complaining about sore throat, headache all day. So Saturday we went shopping instead (including a trip to CVS for Children's Tylenol) and had lunch out at Los Tapatios, the Mexican restaurant we'd first visited last year. I once again got the beef chimichanga, and I still like it! Plus the fun visiting with Anne, Keith and Alex.

Xander and I went to see the pediatrician yesterday, who confirmed my suspicion of strep throat. He's out of school today, so he can get going on his antibiotic, and then back to school tomorrow just in time for his snack day.

Hopefully both the weather and Xander will have cleared up by the weekend!

Holy Hail Storm!

In the midst of the thunder storm we had Monday evening, I began noticing that the rain was hitting unusually hard on the windows. I looked outside and I couldn't believe it - we were having a hail storm!

I've never been in the middle of a hail storm like that before. It was crazy! I went outside afterwards with my camera to get a picture of my landlady's back deck - look at all that hail! It was pebble-sized, not the bigger stuff that slammed Oneonta Monday.

Xander went out after the rain stopped to gather up some hail stones. He now has a baggie full of water tacked to his bedroom wall - he says he's saving it for the first day of school. LOL! It sure was a storm to remember!
