Birth of a Scrapbook Page

After a bit of a break, I'm trying to scrapbook a bit more. I did a layout yesterday, and thought you might like to see what my process is sometimes like. Ready? Okay!

My layout started with a YouTube video, which featured a song I'd never heard before. It's called Everybody Loves Me, by OneRepublic, and you can see the video here if you're curious.

I really liked the song, so I downloaded it from Walmart.com and put it on my MP3 player. I decided to make it my theme song, that's how much I like it. And I'm not being braggy - I don't really think everybody loves me. Well, maybe sometimes! LOL!

So I decided I wanted to scrap this song and how it makes me feel. Which led to a photo shoot when I got home from work yesterday. Outside. In the rain.

I also took some headshots when I got back inside and changed. I went for a smiley one becuase it fit the layout and also because some of my critics (you know who you are, Mom!) don't like my serious face pictures.

Once I got on my computer last night, I uploaded the photos and created my layout. And here's the end result (if you want to see it bigger to check out the journaling, you can find it here):

Not all scrapbook pages are born this way, but for me a lot of them are. A bunch of pieces come together to create one totally cool page. And even if you don't love me, you gotta love the layout!

Back on the Team

Just a quick post to say that I'm going to be back on the Cherry On Top digital Creative Team! I received a request from them at the beginning of the week, saying several members of the digital community have been asking to have me come back. Hello, ego boost! LOL!

After weighing the pros and cons, I've decided to go for it. So when I get back from vacation next month, I'll be back on the team and hopefully helping inspire other digi scrappers. Yay!

I hate posting without a picture, but blogger isn't playing nice with me today. :( Anyway, have a great weekend!

Xander's First Digital Scrapbook Pages!

It makes a mother proud, I tell ya! The other night Xander asked if he could "make a picture" on the laptop like I do all the time. So I set him up with some pictures (he requested Halloween) and a scrap kit. The rest he did himself, with the exception of some spelling help from me. And no, I didn't correct his pronunciation of Michael Meyers - his way is cuter! LOL!

After he finished Halloween, Xander decided he wanted to do a Christmas page too. Again, all I did was set him up with a kit and some pictures. This is what he came up with:

I'm sure he'll get the hang of this in no time, assuming he wants to do more. Mommy's little scrapbooker!

Another Scrapbook Finished...Barely!

So, I already have three scrapbooks that center around my four years at St. Bonaventure University. One is an overview, one is just about the 10 year reunion, and the third (just done a couple of months ago) is about some of the best school stories. Did I really need to do another one? Oh, yeah, I did!

I had a coupon from Inkubook that I wanted to use, so my deadline for getting this done was today. I've been doing a couple of 2-page layouts here and there, but then it was crunch time. I was up until 3am this morning finishing up. The book came out to 50 pages, and I could have easily done a bunch more. Here's the cover:

This was an involved scrapbook. Lots of scanning of pictures (mine and Anne's) and tracking down random pieces of paper I thought I might like to include. The result is a pretty cool album documenting various college things from my time there. I'm pretty happy with it. Here's a sample inside page:

And I have to say I'm already thinking of yet another one. No college experience unturned, that's my motto! LOL! Now I have to anxiously wait for the finished book to arrive, hopefully in time for me to bring it to Binghamton in a couple of weeks so I can show it to Anne. Keep your fingers crossed!

Crop Hangover

Man, I have the worst crop hangover! I spent this weekend at my friend Cathy's house, borrowing her Wi-Fi for the Summer ACOT Crop. It was fun, especially since it was the first crop I wasn't hostesssing, so I just got to play and hang out. The hangover part comes in as a direct result of two late-night chats with my posse. We signed off at 1:30am on Friday, and 2:30 on Saturday. Yawn!



Here I am sitting on Cathy's floor, scrapping and watching lots of TV. And in case you're interested, here are some stats from the crop:

The Darkside Beckons You!

The scrapping darkside, that is! That's how paper scrappers refer to us digi types. And I'm in the process of recruiting. Check out my sister-in-law!

Krissy just got a laptop, and has jumped into the world of digi scrapping with both feet. I think she may possibly have every digital freebie on the web now living on her EHD! And the best part is that she's actually using her supplies! Check out one of her very first layouts (using one of my humble templates):

Not bad, right? Last night I was scrapping with my friend Amy, who still paper scraps. I got into a conversation with her and her sister about digi scrapping and now Amy is seriously considering making the switch once she upgrades from a desktop to a laptop. Bwa ha ha, another feels the pull of the darkside!

Remember, it's not all bad on the darkside. We have cookies!

Crop Hangover

Well, the crop is over. I think I should've taken today off of work to recover, I'm so tired my eyes hurt! (Hmmm...this might be due to the chat I participated in on Saturday night till 4am!)


I had such a great time! It's fun hanging out with my online friends, playing games and telling jokes. And I even got some scrappy stuff accomplished! Now I'll be counting down the months till the next crop. Gonna be a long three months!


Shout-out to the Posse!! Love you gals!! And to Tracy, my heterosexual digi scrapping partner for life!! Some of the best friends I've never met!! ::smooch::

Day 2 of the Online Crop

Day 2 of the online crop at A Cherry On Top has started, and I'm already tired! I was up until 2am this morning, chatting and scrapping and having fun. Hopefully I won't fall asleep before my hostess time comes up at 1pm! If you stop by the ACOT site then, you can see me in action! Probably won't be pretty, though, LOL!

Not sure what an online crop is? ACOT hosts one every three months or so, and it runs from Friday through Sunday. There are challenges to get people scrapping, fast scraps that have to be completed in an hour, Bingo games (mine is tonight at 9pm, fyi!) and lots of other kinds of games. As a hostess, I give out points that can be used in the online store, and for Bingo and fast scraps I can give out $5 gift certificates. It's pretty fun!

I'm over at my friend Cathy's house for the weekend, since I'm not online at home and she has high speed wireless. Boo ya! And since this is kind of like a mini vacation, here are the supplies I've laid in to get me through the weekend:

I've Been Published!!

Yay!! I just got the e-mail this morning that Bella Scraps Magazine has published one of my layouts! This is the first time I've had a scrapbook page published, though I've been submitting lots of them all along. Thanks to Tracy for encouraging (bullying!) me to submit to Bella Scraps!

National Scrapbooking Day

National Scrapbooking Day is tomorrow, May 3rd. In the past I've always tried to have some time to myself on this day for some daylight hour scrapbooking, and this year will be no different. Xander will be having an overnighter at my mother-in-law's house, so I'll have some nice peaceful hours all to myself. Oldies music? Check! Unhealthy snacks? Check! Stuff to scrap? Double check!!

The only downside for me this year is that I won't have any online access this weekend, and will thus miss out on my new favorite weekend activity - the online crop. A full three days of online games, scrapbook challenges, and late night wackiness. As a Creative Team member for A Cherry On Top, I've had the pleasure of participating in two of these crops and they are more fun that you can believe! As a hostess I get to come up with fun games and challenges, and I get to give people store points. Seriously, if you've never done an online crop you have to check it out! ACOT hosts online crops about every three months and they are a blast!

Even if you don't check out any of the online NSD fun and games, this weekend would be a great time to sit down and start scrapping, or get some pages done for your scrapbooks-in-progress. Crank the music, stock the chocolate, and have a great time!
