So, suddenly we have these ducks wandering around our yard. I have no idea where they came from. I'd seen one of them out in the field, and then earlier this week they were in the driveway. This morning I saw that the white duck was right in our yard, so Xander and I went out to try and feed it some bread. Apparently it wasn't hungry, and made a hasty getaway. My neighbor Milly came out and said that she'd actually gotten some feed for it. I guess this means the duck(s) will be sticking around for a while. Life in the country!

Music-less Monday
First, I would just like to say that Joe's birthday cheesecake wasn't a total loss. Most of the middle part was edible and quite tasty. My grandmother scolded me for leaving it in the oven so long, so next time I'll just cook it the recommended time and see what happens.
Now what's up with the music-less Monday? My husband has a Creative Zen MP3 player. It's a great little machine, 30G of space. As of Saturday there were almost 1600 songs on there, and about 100 TV shows downloaded from Amazon.com. As of Saturday night, all the songs had been wiped out. It was at this point that my husband's head exploded. Where did these songs go? No idea. Everything else is still in place on the Zen.
I'd say about 85-90% of these songs were from our own collection of CDs, though Joe had borrowed some CDs as well. But a pricey portion of these were downloads that we had to pay actual money for. And there's not getting them back. Needless to say, Joe will be on the phone today harassing the people at Creative Labs trying to figure out what to do now. (Did I mention the little machine won't let us put music back on it now?) I had to talk him down from buying a replacement MP3 at Walmart yesterday until we can find out what's happening with this one.
So now we're back to old-school CDs in the car. Not nearly as handy, but we lived many long years without an MP3 player and I feel certain we can do it again...for a little while!

What's the Secret?
Seriously, is there some kind of secret to making cheesecake? If there is, I don't have it. I made one last night for Joe's birthday. I followed the recipe. And still the edges are really brown, and I'm pretty sure the middle is raw. Where did I go wrong??
Still, this cheesecake will probably be more edible than the first one I ever made for him. That one had a caramel topping that hardened up to the consistency of marble. I'm not kidding - it bent our forks! At least this one should be silverware friendly.
If anyone has an easy, fool-proof recipe for cheesecake, I'd love to check it out! And I'm sure my husband will thank you too!

My First Post!
So, this is my very first blog post! Yay! I was starting to feel a little out of the loop, seems like everyone is on a blog these days.
This has been a pretty busy month, and May is looking to be just more of the same! My son is starting Kindergarten in the Fall, so next month we can look forward to a visit from his teacher. At our house! I'm so nervous about that! And just this morning we found out we have to set aside time for my hubby's cousin's wedding. Plus our family vacation!
With all that going on, I still have my work on two digital creative teams for scrapbooking - one for A Cherry On Top and the other for Crisdam Designs. That keeps me hopping!
I hope to add some fun links and pictures here soon, so stay tuned! And bear with me, I'm pretty new at this!
